Atlas wins competitive national award, recognized for commitment to DEI

The highly competitive award recognizes transportation industry leaders who make a commitment to a culture of acceptance and belonging for their employees and encourage innovation that supports continued improvement in the relocation industry’s longstanding commitment to equal opportunity.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Oct. 16, 2024) – Today, Atlas® World Group, a leading provider of transportation, moving, and storage services around the globe, is proud to announce it has been honored with the prestigious Change Leader Award from the American Truck Associations (ATA) for 2024.

The ATA Change Leader Award recognizes ATA members who make a commitment to a culture of acceptance and belonging for their employees and encourage innovation that supports continued improvement in the relocation industry’s longstanding commitment to equal opportunity. The Change Leader Award is highly competitive, being awarded to just eight companies out of 37,000 members in 2024.

“We are truly honored to receive this award,” said Jack Griffin, Chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a priority for Atlas. It is intentionally included in our strategic vision and values, and I want to thank every Atlas employee and agent for living our values and for making Atlas a welcoming and diverse place to work.”

Among Atlas’ initiatives to build a strong, welcoming culture, Atlas established a Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) to lead modern, all-encompassing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) training for employees that goes beyond general race and gender discussions. Kelly Cruse, Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Diversity Officer, emphasized the importance of education in a comprehensive DE&I strategy. “Education is the first and most critical step, but it is the follow-through and ongoing support that turn strategy into culture,” she stated. “The ATA Change Leader Award acknowledges our successful initiatives, from providing educational resources on marginalized groups to our employees, to developing policies and protocols that attract and retain diverse talent.”

Atlas’ commitment to diversity and inclusion begins at the recruitment level, attracting a diverse workforce through inclusive job postings, sourcing from diverse talent pools, and using a structured interview process with diverse hiring panels. Atlas continues to invest in employees when they join the team through its LEAD Atlas mentorship program, available to all employees. Locally in Evansville, Indiana, Atlas supports the community by attending events such as Pride Evansville and hosting fundraisers and donation drives for organizations such as It Takes a Village No-Kill Animal Rescue.

The ATA presented Jack Griffin with the Change Leader Award at its 2024 Management Conference & Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee, on Oct. 13th.
