Evansville Philharmonic Presents Spring Choral "Awakenings"

Experience an inspiring afternoon of choral music as the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus presents its Spring Choral Concert "Awakening" on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the beautiful St. Benedict Cathedral. Featuring a 100-member chorus, this concert showcases the power, richness, and expressive range of one of the region’s premier vocal ensembles.

Under the direction of Chorus Master Andrea Drury and accompanied by pianist Jeff Thornton, the program weaves together sacred, spiritual, and contemporary choral works that reflect themes of faith, hope, and human connection. The concert spans centuries and styles, offering something meaningful for every listener.

Highlights include the jubilant energy of “O Clap Your Hands” by M. Thomas Cousins, the serene beauty of Arcadelt’s “Ave Maria,” and the soaring lyricism of Ola Gjeilo’s “Across the Vast Eternal Sky.” Audiences will also enjoy beloved spiritual and American-inspired works such as Moses Hogan’s “I Can Tell the World,” Shawn Kirchner’s “Unclouded Day,” and selections from Jake Runestad’s American Triptych No. 3, "Come to the Woods,", alongside inspiring contemporary pieces like “The Awakening” by Joseph Martin.

Set within the resonant and sacred space of St. Benedict Cathedral, this Spring Choral Concert promises a moving musical journey that celebrates community, tradition, and the expressive power of the human voice. Join us for an afternoon of beauty, reflection, and song.

Concert sponsored by Friends of the Chorus.
