Evansville Philharmonic Continues Holiday Tradition with Handel's Messiah
The Evansville Philharmonic continues its holiday tradition with a performance of Handel’s beloved oratorio "Messiah." This treasured annual event will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church at Third & Walnut Streets in downtown Evansville on Friday, December 19 at 7:00 PM.
Under the direction of Evansville Philharmonic Conductor Roger Kalia, a baroque-size orchestra drawn from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra joins the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus and three distinguished soloists to present this 18th-century masterpiece in an intimate, traditional setting. The sanctuary will be illuminated by candlelight as the audience experiences the warmth and majesty of Messiah. Highlights include “For Unto Us a Child Is Born,” “The Trumpet Shall Sound,” and the iconic “Hallelujah Chorus.”
Featured soloists are Soprano Lisa Clark, Tenor Chris Albanese, and Baritone Daniel Lentz. Andrea Drury is the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus Master.
Concert Sponsor is Phyllis R. Grimm. Chorus Sponsor is Friends of the Chorus. Adult general admission is $25. Children and students are free beginning December 5.
