Technology Interest Group

Technology Interest Group

Wednesday, September 24, 2025 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Food Scientist Kerby Newcomb will speak on the science underlying Aerial Acrobatics.  Kerby spent a decade working in the food sciences and interfacing with the FDA before deciding to explore her passions of dance, yoga, and cake decorating.

It is important we explore different things in order to allow ourselves to think outside of the boxes we put ourselves in. We need to challenge ourselves as to how we can translate some outside influence into the things we pursue.

Come join us Wednesday for Kerby's presentation and great TIG tech camaraderie.

The Technology Interest Group is a bi-monthly (twice per month on the second and fourth Wednesdays 6pm-8pm) meeting for students, hobbyists and professionals to discuss technology projects and ideas in a supportive and social atmosphere. The focus is on interpersonal networking, sharing information in order to build skills, and advancing personal/professional projects. Participants should not disclose confidential information to the group as there are no expressed or implied non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

Each meeting will have a designated group leader who will facilitate:

  • A featured speaker to present their project or other topic for up to 30 minutes (including Q&A), and
  • Unstructured conversations at tables around the room based upon those present and the topics of interest that emerge.

Potential topics of interest:

  • Robotics
  • Internet of Things (IOT)
  • Arduino, ESP32, or other microprocessors
  • RaspberryPi or other single board computers
  • Mobile App integration
  • Cloud/Web integration
  • Alexa / Home Assistant / Siri integration
