Overview:
This one-day workshop is designed to help non-financial managers build confidence in understanding and using financial information. Participants will learn how to interpret key financial statements- income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements- and explore different types of budgeting to better understand what drives their organization’s bottom line.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Define key financial terms such as revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, operating income, net income, depreciation, and amortization.
- Interpret the financial information found on income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Identify, measure, and incorporate risk and return into capital budgeting decisions.
- Describe common types of budgeting and the differences between each.
Prerequisite:
Participants must bring a computer or laptop with Microsoft Excel installed to complete course activities.
