Fight for youth in our community at the Y!
This position supports the work of the Y, under the direction of the Boxing Coordinator. Coach will be responsible for instructing boxing class for youth and adults and for creating lesson plans and workouts, as well as teaching technique, endurance, strength, and skill.
Job responsibilities will include the following:
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
- Complete required abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Teach kids and adults the basic fundamentals of boxing and build from there.
- Teach classes each week and potentially private lessons.
- Develop practices/workouts that include a warm-up, footwork, shadow boxing, heavy bag, speed bag, and the opportunity for mitt work with you.
- Build a positive, encouraging, and welcoming experience for each child, teen, and adult.
- Adhere to policies and procedures in a proactive manner, making the safety and care of children, teens, and adults your primary focus.
- Serve as a professional and engaging representative of the YMCA with parents and children
- Take attendance at practice and report to Boxing Coordinator.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment.
- Child Abuse Prevention training required before/on first day of working with youth.
- Boxing and coaching experience required.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers, clients, vendors, and the public.
